Illumination art, brought to the life by stylizing plants in the nature, reflects the heritage of thousand years. Various important historical illumination artists such as Nakkaş Karamemi, Şah Kulu and Babanakkaş in the Ottoman period and Rikkat Kunt in the early republican period in Turkey have indispensable contributions to the art in this prolonged journey.
Following the footsteps of such rare talents, aspiring young illumination artist Dilara Yarcı aims to strengthen the art, prevent it from fading away by creating designs comprising of hatai motifs at its heart, penç and serrated leaf motifs as subsidiary factors. This unique design was structured in a circular shape with symmetrical composition and virtually portrayed on linen with a unique embroidering technique by the renowned Gülten Oktay, a leading expert at embroidery techniques in Turkey.
Developed into a one of a kind artwork, this design was embroidered with care and life-long experience just in three months. It has such a composition that the transition between colors in the design is not visible to the human eye and combines art and craftsmanship. As the sun colors flowers, so do we color life with illumination art.*
